There is a close and enduring relationship between music and dance. So much of the music we know and love is written for dancing. Sometimes it invites us to move, but other times it simply captures the spirit of dance itself.

In classical music, Tchaikovsky’s ballet The Nutcracker is at least as well-known as his symphonies. Centuries of choral music are also rich with dance-inspired works, including the centerpiece of our season finale concert, the Liebeslieder Waltzes of Johannes Brahms. As David Bowie once sang, “Let’s Dance!”
